Videos are buffering or playing slowly

Jan 12, 2025 Membership Help

Buffering and slow playback are usually caused by connection issues. Here’s how to improve your streaming experience.

Quick fixes

  1. Lower the video quality - Use the quality selector (gear icon) to choose a lower resolution
  2. Pause and wait - Let the video buffer for 30-60 seconds before playing
  3. Close other tabs and apps - Free up bandwidth for streaming
  4. Use a wired connection - Ethernet is more stable than WiFi

Check your internet speed

For smooth streaming, you need:

  • SD quality: 3+ Mbps
  • HD quality (720p): 5+ Mbps
  • Full HD (1080p): 10+ Mbps
  • 4K quality: 25+ Mbps

Test your speed at fast.com or speedtest.net.

Browser troubleshooting

  • Clear your browser cache and cookies
  • Disable browser extensions (especially ad blockers)
  • Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
  • Update your browser to the latest version

Still having issues?

  • Restart your router/modem
  • Try at a different time (peak hours can be slower)
  • Consider downloading content instead of streaming
  • Contact your internet provider if speeds are consistently low
